ABSTRACT

Although various ELT scholars have offered some pedagogical measures to tackle the unprecedented impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, studies on the extent to which the online FC learning model can be enacted in the EFL writing classroom in such a remote instructional situation remain under research. To fill this void, drawing on the online collaborative flipped writing classroom (OCFWC) learning framework (Husnawadi 2021), this study aimed to investigate EFL students' perceptions regarding the implementation of the learning model for EFL writing instruction in the times of the New Normal;the challenges they encountered;and the suggested refinement of how the learning model can be appropriately enacted in such a remote learning condition. Both quantitative and qualitative evidence showed that writing students positively perceived the implementation of OCFWC for EFL writing instruction in terms of learning engagement, motivation, effectiveness and efficiency, satisfaction, and writing skill development. Another finding unveiled that the inadequacy of internet connection and less cooperation between the group members were their primary learning barriers. The qualitative evidence also showed that the students preferred the employment of self-created digital materials by the writing instructor and the provision of a free-internet quota by the university to implement the learning model better. Pedagogical implications and recommendations for prospective studies were discussed. © 2023 Librairie du Liban Publishers. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a domino effect on various sectors, both macro and micro. Traditional fishermen in Kedonganan Village (which is a coastal area and a well-known tourist destination in Bali) have also experienced a decline in tourism activities, especially related to limited funding. The purpose of this research is to improve the welfare of fishery entrepreneurs in Kedonganan Village after Covid-19 through an inclusive financing model in the perspective of the Village Credit Institution. This type of research is qualitative research by analyzing data with existing theories to dissect research problems. The data analysis technique used in this research is qualitative data analysis. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that traditional fishermen in Kedonganan Village feel helped by financial assistance (capital) for individuals, but cannot be given to fishing groups because they do not have formal legal elements. The beneficiary fishermen also stated their readiness to increase their business, one of which was through increasing working time, so that credit installments could be paid. In addition, the assistance of fishing gear facilities and infrastructure (including software applications) as well as institutional empowerment has been able to improve the welfare of fishery entrepreneurs.

ABSTRACT

This research aims to study home design guidelines in this new era in Thailand. The data were collected by conducting a semi-structured interview with three groups of key informants, including five participants – academics and real estate experts, five participants – residential project developers listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), and home builders, the members of the Association of Home Builders of Thailand, and five participants – architects of a design company using design thinking, which is a creative human-centered problem-solving approach to better meet the needs of residents. Moreover, they are housing designers and developers in Thailand. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The research results revealed that the home design principle consistent with Thai residents' new normal era behavior is a house with feel-good qualities, including flexibility, good hygiene, security, privacy, environmental friendliness, and convenience. In the new-normal era, homes should have private spaces to work or study from home, multi-purpose areas, an enlarged kitchen and increased functionality, a designated parcel receiving area, and/or a storage area. The building assembly system installation that enhances good health and comfort in living is also recommended. These valuable, novelty results might also lead to Thailand's real estate business development trends. Not only for housing residential designers and developers but also for other related business suppliers associated with new product development for home innovative inventions and technologies in the future. © 2022 Hunan University. ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a slew of new business practices that have put the society and environment under strain. This has drawn the attention of supply chain researchers working to address the COVID-19 pandemic's looming social sustainability issues. Prior literature has indicated that collaborative relationships improve organizational performance. Over the past years, problems related to justice are reported (e.g., between Walmart Canada and the Lego group), which might negatively affect the buyer-supplier relationship. In the new normal, the effect of justice on collaborative buyer-supplier relationships on social sustainability in the COVID-19 context is obviously essential but under-explored. The current study examines buyer-supplier collaborative relationships' influence on social sustainability under the moderating effect of justice and big data analytical intelligence. In this paper, we employ the stakeholder resource-based view, loose coupling theory, and resource dependency theory as the theoretical lens to establish the research hypotheses. Using primary survey data collected from supply chain practitioners in South Africa, hypothesis testing is done using a covariance-based structural equation modelling technique. To enhance research rigor, we have checked the dyadic perspectives of both buyers and suppliers. Our empirical results reveal that collaborative buyer-supplier relationships positively influence supplier social sustainability in the new normal era. However, it is relatively stronger from the suppliers' perspective when compared with the buyers' perspective. Secondly, the moderating effect of perceptions of organizational justice and big data analytical intelligence on the relationship between collaborative buyer-supplier relationships and supplier social sustainability is also statistically significant. However, it is relatively stronger from the buyers' perspective when compared with the suppliers' perspective. These are major findings of this study. Theoretical and managerial implications are further discussed.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide and presents an unprecedented challenge to global public health. Since the deadly virus spread out across the world rapidly, several countries experienced a collapse in their medical care systems. Not only developing countries, but developed countries as well have been suffering from a lack of medicines, hospital beds, doctors/nurses, and medical machines and equipment. Under these circumstances, managing the intellectual property rights (IPRs) of vaccines, medicines, and medical machines and equipment has become a big issue. Since developing a new product in the medical industry takes a long time and requires a huge amount of investment, the IPRs of vaccines, medicines, medical machines and equipment are highly protected. However, under national emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, how should the IPRs of these products be dealt with? This study analyzed how to handle medical IPRs, focusing on the medical machines and equipment industry. For this purpose, this study first provided an overview of the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide as well as the medical machines and equipment industry. Next, this study examined patent regulations and governmental policies, along with citizens' and industries' movements to "not to exercise"IPRs. This article presents potential solutions and/or has implications for the post-COVID-19 era and the "New Normal"era with COVID-19. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in a country's economy. However, the pandemic of Corona Virus Disease 19 (COVID-19) and numerous changes in the general business environment have compelled MSMEs to embrace open innovation. However, due to their low digital literacy, Indonesian MSMEs are still having difficulty conducting open innovation. The goal of this research is to provide solutions for Indonesian MSMEs to address these issues. Therefore, we conducted a qualitative study and gathered data through in-depth interviews with a variety of stakeholders. This research provides a value co-creation model between Indonesian MSMEs, university, students, and consumers. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The emergence of the Covid-19 Pandemic has defined more dependence upon the involvement of ICT in EFL Class. This study investigates the integration of ICT in English teaching practices among teachers in the EFL context in a new normal setting. To achieve the aim of the study, a mixed-method approach has been applied. Thirty-two EFL teachers of junior high school who joined as members of Musyarawah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP-English Teacher Regional Forum) in Bitung City, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. They have been selected as the participants for their familiarity for teaching English using the technological tools and for their teaching experience. A quantitative inquiry is carried out by distributing a questionnaire of twenty-three items adapted from two questionnaires namely those of Mailizar & Fan, and Almalki. Due to the Pandemic, the questionnaires are distributed by utilizing Google form, and then, the responses are analyzed by using SPSS tool. The qualitative data are in the forms of interview as the verification to deepen the discussion of the quantitative results. The semi-structured interview is performed and the responses are analyzed in triangulation method. The study showed that teachers’ knowledge and perception toward the integration of ICT is high. Further, this study found that despite acknowledging the importance of the enjoyment of integrating the ICT in the learning process, teachers identified the aspects of learners’ lack of technological literacy and infrastructure, and lack of motivation can be barriers for the success of the ICT integration. For such challenges, the study also revealed that teachers attempt to practice a sort of home visit and invitation learning and encouraging the making of soft skills for class activity management. These findings expectedly contribute to define the role of ICT in the current pandemic era. © 2021. International Journal of Interactive Mobile Technologies. All Rights Reserved.
